I have an amazing man in my life...
I have never met someone so hardworking. Not only does he clock in 10-14 hours of work every day, he will often work through his breaks, planning for his next client. He then comes home after a long day, usually exhausted, and still makes me the center of his world.
I hope he realizes that the things he does for me do not go by unnoticed.
I will never be able to express how much I love and appreciate this man.

Feels like we're learning this out on our own
Trying to find a way down the road we don't know.

"You died on a Saturday morning. And I had you placed here under out tree. And I had that house of your father's bulldozed to the ground. Momma always said dyin' was a part of life. I sure wish it wasn't. Little Forrest, he's doing just fine. About to start school again soon. I make his breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. I make sure he combs his hair and brushes his teeth every day. Teaching him how to play ping-pong. He's really good. We fish a lot. And every night, we read a book. He's so smart Jenny, you'd be so proud of him. I am. He, uhh, wrote a letter and he says I can't read it. I'm not supposed to, so I'll just leave it here for you. Jenny, I don't know if momma was right or if, if it's Lieutenant Dan. I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time. I miss you, Jenny. If there's anything you need, I won't be far away."

Rant...
"I have socks that are older than you."
I get it a lot. Many of my peers, professors, supervisors, and now random people apparently, look at how I look and make comments about it. It always comes down to how young I am, and how I look my age as well.
Several people have "warned" me that I might not get chosen for a job because I look so young, and they might pick someone older. I can understand being chosen over me for having more experience, but I am just as qualified and skilled as other candidates.
I have one question to all those people: Who gives a shit?
Honestly. I have never considered my looks to be a shortcoming of mine. Yes, I look like I'm about 18, but it has never once worked against me in any way. In fact, I consider my youthfulness to be an asset, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Here's why:
1. I am highly motivated. I went straight into university after graduating from high school, and completed my bachelor degree in four years, when I was only 21. This shows dedication and hard work and determination, nothing else. I knew exactly what I wanted and went for it.
2. I have youthfulness. I am bringing a sense of youthfulness to the classroom, and different ways of looking at things. I was raised in the 21st century and therefore am aware of what it's all about and how kids are currently being raised in it. One huge example is technology. How many teachers did you have in K-12 education that didn't know how to work a VCR or DVD player? How about ones that didn't know how to use a smart board or an internet search engine? Probably quite a few. This isn't to put them down, they were raised in a different time with different technologies; I'm just suggesting that it could be easier if the teachers themselves were brought up in that generation. It brings a sense of relevance to kids, that will hopefully make them more engaged within the classroom context.
3. My education is the most up-to-date. I know all the new theories and teaching techniques that are being used at this time. They say that post-secondary information in the field of education is outdated after two years of learning it because of how quickly things change. Imagine those individuals who have been out of school for years? (Granted, they do have the experience which is invaluable).
4. I think students will find me much more approachable. During my practicums students approached me with all types of problems. I think they see me as younger, more "with it" and possibly less intimidating than other teachers.
So to all those people who tell me I'm too young and am not suitable for a "high school" teaching career until I look a bit older, I say STFU. You know nothing. Looking young is an asset, and so long as I know that it will only work to my advantage.

ranting because people are stupid
I HATE stupid people on facebook.
There is a line between mildly entertaining and stupid.
One of the things I hate the most are the "share if you _______"
or
"like if ______ or comment if ______"
For example.
Share if you want to stop animal abuse.
Share if you like wearing skinny jeans.
Like if you have Bieber Fever, comment if you hate him"
Like if you think this girl is beautiful, comment if you think she's ugly. (with some poor random girl's picture)
Like if you're a girl, comment if you're a boy. who will win?
I have a lot of younger cousins on my list.
These are the main culprits, where age is forgivable (preteen, teen).
However, one girl on my friend's list constantly does this and shes in her 20's.
Today it was "Share if you think we should have an animal offenders list."
I wish I was kidding.
K firstly, what would this list entail? Would it just be those who have abused animals in the past? What is the spectrum?
If they have been charged then they are on a list of sorts to ensure they don't own animals for a given amount of time - one that the police hold and are responsible to uphold. So that takes care of that problem.
Secondly, this is completely different than a sex offenders list. The public is made aware if they are in danger of a sexual offender - one who preys on strangers. I'm not pretending that I'm an expert in animal abuse but it seems as though MOST cases involve people with their own pets, not others. This is just based on my knowledge of the subject. Therefore, the risk to the public's animal population doesn't seem to be very high. The offender would need to steal your pet to abuse it or do it when you're not looking. Typically you have your pet within your grasp. On a leash, in your home, in your fenced back yard, etc.
And YES I realize that there are some people that go around poisoning animals and such too. But those with a past in animal abuse will be the primary suspects in the case, no?
Think of all the problems that arose out of places releasing sex offender lists. There is a huge spectrum of offenses that could have been acted on and people automatically suspect the worst. The last thing this world needs is some crazy PETA activists storming around killing off animal offenders who may have just left their animal in the car for too long.
I'm not downplaying animal abuse, it just seems a little bit ridiculous. I do however, believe there needs to be stronger penalties for animal abuse, but that is a different story. Obviously no one likes someone who abuses animals but what is the point of making a list for it?
Oh ya, there isn't one.
Let's make a list for people who have been caught stealing before.
Let's make a list of people who have had a speeding ticket before.
Or better yet a parking ticket!!!! Those damn people parking without a pass. I wanna know who they are so bad!
Let's start out by making a stupid picture on facebook and getting people to "like" it or "share" it. Give me a fucking break.
Just a waste of resources and time.
Donate to a shelter or adopt a rescue animal. Seems just a LITTLE BIT more proactive then "sharing" a picture on facebook.

singing this with the windows rolled dowwnnnn
LOVE summer songs
She's my kind of Sunday driving
Rolling down the back roads, hanging out the window
Riding with her hair in the wind and her hands in the sky
Like she's flying
She's my kind of ponytail pretty
Sounds like the country, looks like the city
I march along to whatever out of town drum she plays me
She's my kind of crazy
Rolling down the back roads, hanging out the window
Riding with her hair in the wind and her hands in the sky

so last week i went to see the new batman movie.
i absolutely loved it.
am i the only person who thinks that bane is hotter than bruce wayne?
maybe its the huge muscular arms.
yes that's definitely it.
like, christian bale straight up creeps me out. The only time he is attractive is when his face is covered by the batman mask.

Everybody keeps telling me I'm such a lucky man,
Looking at you standing there I know I am.
Barefooted beauty with eyes that blue, sunshine sure looks good on you, I swear.
Oh I can't believe I finally found ya baby,
Happy ever after after all this time.
Oh there's gonna be some ups and downs,
But with you to wrap my arms around, I'm fine.
So baby hold on tight, and don't let go.
Hold on to the love we're making,
Cause baby when the ground starts shaking you gotta know,
When you got a good thing.
You know you keep on bringing out the best in me,
And I need you now even more than the air I breathe.

OMG OMG OMG OMG
For those of you who know me, you know that I am in love with Curious George.
Like more than a grown woman should be.
J got me a fucking Curious George LUNCH BOX.

Matthew Gray Gubler on his perfect woman:
“Must love decorating for holidays, mischief, kissing in cars, and wind chimes. no specific height, weight, hair color, or political affiliation required but would prefer a warm spirited non racist. cynics, critics, pessimists, and “stick in the muds” need not apply. voluptuous figures a plus. any similarity in look, mind set, or fashion sense to mary poppins, claire huxtable, snow white, or elvira wholeheartedly welcomed. i am dubious of actresses, fellons and lesbians but dont want to rule them out entirely. must be tolerant of whistling, tickle torture, james taylor, and sleeping late. i have a slight limp, eerily soft hands, and a preternatural love of autumn. i once misinterpreted being called a coal-eyed dandy as a compliment when it was intended as an insult. i wiggle my feet in my sleep, am scared of the dark, and think the Muppets Christmas Carol is one of the greatest films of all time. all i want is butterfly kisses in the morning, peanut butter sandwiches shaped like a heart, and to make you smile until it hurts.”

LOL @ random emails from ex boyfriends
"Hey!
DROP ME A LINE
who still says that?!
So random.
I actually found this buried within all my junk mail on my HOTMAIL account.
We dated for like 3 weeks when I was in junior high.
Then a couple years later he dated/impregnated a girl who lived down my street.
He then sent me a message on facebook about how "sexy" my profile pictures were. His profile picture was of him and his girlfriend and their child.
I subsequently enhanced my privacy settings and didn't reply.
BTW who still emails their ex girlfriends?
Its *******, I was going through my phone deleting Emails and people and I came across your email. Just wondering how you are and what's up in life, drop me a line some time :-)"

Trip to the Island
Like many of you know, most of my extended family moved out west to the island over the past years. I haven't seen many of them in almost a year so I was so happy to be able to go out there and spend time with them.
Not only that, I got to bring my wonderful boyfriend there as well to meet my extended family. I am so close with my grandparents and so I was very excited for them to meet the man I love. They absolutely loved each other and it just further validates how perfectly he fits into my family. It was also an added bonus that he had never been out there before, so there were a lot of new things to do.
Some highlights, among many more memories:

They absolutely loved each other and it just further validates how perfectly he fits into my family. It was also an added bonus that he had never been out there before, so there were a lot of new things to do.
Some highlights, among many more memories:
- Getting upgraded to a suite in Victoria overlooking the inner-harbour.
- All the beaches.
- Sooke Pot Holes (amazing swimming)
- Bathtub Races. On water. Need I say more?
- Longest street festival ever.
- Going spelunking.
- Hiking an entire island.
- Parksville Beach/mini golf
- Getting the worst burn EVER on my back, despite wearing sunscreen. (yes, its been over a week and I'm STILL peeling. blehh.)
- Goats on Roof in Coombes.
- Piper's Cove.
- Hiking Sugarloaf "mountain".
- Cathedral Grove and one of the Biggest Trees in the world - taller than the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
- Spending time with all my cousins, grandparents, aunt and uncle (of course!)
- Stopping only at Tim Horton's restaurants for the entire drive back - very sick of it by the end of a 15 hour ferry/drive.
- NO MOSQUITOES. How is this even possible?! It was amazing to go out without bugspray on. I am contemplating moving out there for just that reason alone.
Last week was V's birthday and we decided to do something really special for her, so we took her on a surprise outing to Banff.
- We almost died on the way out. After we caught up to them in the left lane I went into the right lane to pass and the minivan pulled into my lane without shoulder checking. I noticed she was a little bit close so I gave her a little honk, and she didn't here so I pushed the horn for a good 5-10 seconds and she finally clued in AFTER I was in the shoulder and she was half way in the lane. It isn't difficult to shoulder check. Crazy broad.
- I got pulled over by a police helicopter. Yes, you heard that right. I noticed the helicopter but didn't think anything of it, and then saw a "police emergency ahead, slow down" which I believed to be a big accident. However, we came up to a giant speed trap and every second car was being pulled over by a burly cop standing in the middle of the road. Once a cop came to my window he explained that the POLICE HELICOPTER HAD CAUGHT ME "following too close". Are you fucking kidding me? I got off with a warning thank god, but c'mon. Haha the warning ticket didn't even have a charge on it, I didn't even think that was possible.
- We got lost on our hike. We picked a really easy hiking trail that meant to take 1-2hrs and we packed a picnic to take along. We ended up taking the trail on the right when we came to a fork in the road, thinking that it would eventually meet up. NOPE. We took it for about an 40 mins into thick dark forest and realized we were very far from the river. We decided to walk upwards because we figured the left trail must be up there somewhere. We walked uphill (like STEEP uphill) for about an hour until we had to stop to eat. During out picnic one of the girls exclaimed "Umm.. I just saw a van". Turns out we were only like 25 meters away from a road and eventually we found the path and got to walk back. The funniest part was the looks on people's faces as we walked by them. Remember, this was a leisurely hike and had spent two hours sweating our asses off, so people starting the hike were in sandals and skirts, four year old children prancing around, while we were disheveled, filthy, and exhausted walking past them. I can't even imagine what they were thinking.
- Since our hike took so long we couldn't do our second surprise because our third surprise (dinner at the Grizzly House) had a 6pm reservation and all of our setbacks had taken a chunk out of our day. We got to dinner (V was so surprised) and it was incredible. For those of you who don't know, the Grizzly House is a really renown fondue restaurant that focuses on exotic meats for fondue, such as rattlesnake, shark, ostrich, etc. We each decided to split "
three" four course chicken and beef fondue (soup or salad, cheese fondue, meat fondue, chocolate fondue) and it was probably the best meal of my life. So good and the food never stopped, omg. - After a three hour meal (yes, THREE HOURS) we called it a night and headed back home.
- I seriously love those girls so much, and was so excited to spend V's birthday with them. AND I was so incredibly stoked to have E come out to (the whole reason we picked Banff was because it was a halfway point for us). There is definitely a reason as to why we have been best friends for so long. Love you girls :)
