Saw Snow White and the Huntsman Last Night

  • Chris Hemsworth... why are you so beautiful?
  • Kristen Stewart still only has one expression, regardless of any emotion.
  • The movie would have been so much better without her.
  • Charlize Theron plays a ballin' villain.
  • She also yells. a lot. shes so angry.
  • OMG did you see Chris Hemsworth's arms?
  • They came out in one scene. I didn't want to go pee in case I missed them coming out again another time.
  • He is even sexy when he is all covered in dirt and probably hasn't showered in weeks.
  • Somebody please explain this to me.
  • Chris Hemsworth can I have you babies? Please?
  • Is that inappropriate?
  • K seriously, did you not see his arms?

Dancing around in my tights to this while cooking dinner

ya... don't judge me.

Anyways...

in other, completely not related news, Ewan Mcgregor is hot. and when I say that, I mean that I don't think I could find a human being who thinks otherwise.

wtf?

was just called a slob for wearing jeans and a sweater....
  • first of all its fucking cold out thank you very much.
  • secondly, I'm at home... who the fuck cares?

p.s. I thought I actually looked pretty damn good today.

why my cat is the best

mostly just because he falls asleep like this. and snores.

Random ex-friend that I was hoping I would never have to see ever again but unfortunately ran into when I was out running errands: "So you're dating that guy from... that town... Red Deer... right...? How's that going...?" (with a weird & confused look on face)

Um... wtf? It's great?
I heard you're dating a broad from that city... CALGARY... how's that going?

What a pretentious, Calgary thing to say.
That comment alone makes me miss Edmonton.

I am almost certain that every single person who works at Crowfoot Plates hates their lives and probably wants to kill themselves.

Seriously though, you don't have to be such a bitch about everything.

This picture defines my entire life right now.
"They’re fucking gross, man. Look, I love beautiful girls too. I think everyone should be free to have their knee socks and their sweaty shorts, but I’m over it. I’m over this weird, exhausted girl. I’m over the girl that’s tired and freezing and hungry. I like bossy girls, I always have. I like people filled with life. I’m over this weird media thing with all this, like, hollow-eyed, empty, party crap."

Seriously jonesing for a double double and an everything bagel with cream cheese from tim hortons.

either that, or a giant bowl of dry roasted peanuts.

I don't pretend to understand why my body wants what it wants. I only wish sometimes it would crave something a little bit healthier.

Whats uuuuuup?

Like always, I've been pretty MIA on the blog front, but with more time I hope that changes. I have actually been super busy, y'know, figuring out my entire life.

So... What have I been up to lately?

  • First things first - my birthday. It was incredible. I was able to get all my ladies together for a lovely meal at Open Sesame (honestly, if you haven't gone before, go! it's soo yummy). We got to spend the rest of the night with plenty of drinks and many laughs, as well as some awesome presents. Thank you girls :) My brother and boyfriend were able to come down to Calgary to celebrate my b-day with me, which was incredible. It was so nice to have all my family together to celebrate. My gifts from everyone were beautiful... here is just a snippet of SOME of the things I got (I am seriously spoiled rotten):

Yup that's me... spoiled rotten. NBD.

  • I spent all of last week in Edmonton to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday with him. He didn't do so bad either. But I want to wish him a very happy (belated) 24th birthday! I hope he enjoyed all his birthday surprises. God I love that man.

  • I also spent a bajillion hours working on my portfolio over the past month which is nearly done! Only a couple more things need to be added. If that thing doesn't get me a job, I dunno what will.

  • Oh! and my dad is also recovering from a motorbike accident, so send positive thoughts his way for a speedy recovery!

  • Now, I am currently waiting to get my reference letters back from a couple of people so I can send off my applications! This will be a whole load of my shoulders, as I am going to start applying to 3 different school boards, and continue on from there. Fingers crossed :).

  • Next up... I seriously need to think hard about what to get my brother for his birthday and dad for father's day. What do people get their dad's these days? and please, please, PLEASE, don't let it cost me a fortune.

What's Next?

Now that I have completed my degree... There are quite a few things that I need to be doing...

  • Applying for (and hopefully getting) a teaching job for the school year.
  • Reading - So many books that I wasn't able to read because I was too busy with school.
  • Hanging with the bests.
  • Write more of my book.
  • Update my blog more often.
  • Work out more.
  • Get a job for the summer (yuck)
And probably most importantly...

  • Figure out what the hell I'm going to do with the rest of my life - like, for example, where the hell I'm going to be living in September... it might make applying for a job a LITTLE easier.
"You may see this and think its magic,
but falling in love is an act of magic. "
My cats are retarded and often do not land on their feet.
That is all.

That moment when...

i'm lying in bed and can't figure out what is preventing me from falling asleep.
The bed feels colder, roomier, quieter and my head just doesn't fit on the pillow properly.
Then I realize its because lying alone in bed is an unfamiliar feeling.
I'm so used to feeling the heat from your body, being curled up next to you, hearing you inhale and exhale, and having your arm under my head to support my neck.

The first night alone is always the strangest.

My Next Read:

Soo apparently my body doesn't feel as though 8-10 hours of sleep is enough anymore.
How the hell did I used to survive off of 4-6 hours?
Is this what getting old feels like?!

Grey's Anatomy Quoted:

"You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales? That fantasy of what your life would be. White dress, Prince Charming who’d carry you away to a castle on a hill… You’d lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Clause, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming. They were so close you could taste them. But eventually you grow up. One day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is, it’s hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely ‘cause almost everyone still has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they’ll open their eyes and it will all come true. At the end of the day, faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don’t really expect it. It’s like one day you realise that the fairy tale might be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And it’s not so important that it’s happy ever after, just that it’s happy right now. See, once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you. And once in a while, people may even take your breath away."

The Great Gatsby (2012)

"I wish I had done everything on earth with you."

So excited for this movie.
Critics are going to hate on it because of Luhrman's unique take on movies (think back to Romeo + Juliet) but I think his adaptations are suitable for modern audiences. I know I love his work.
I can't wait.

What an AMAZING Weekend

For the May Long weekend, J and I decided to pack up my little mazda and head off camping for the weekend. My family was super worried because they figured me to be too much of a city girl BUT I had such a blast - it was absolutely incredible. Turns out I'm a little bit more outdoors-y then I thought!

We stayed at Fish Lake, just West of Nordegg. It was absolutely beautiful. Our site actually backed onto Mud Lake, and since we were on the last loop at the very end, it was very quiet and peaceful, with very little traffic.

I found out Justin is a regular survivor man. He is so smart and innovative when it comes to the outdoors that I would not want to have spent my time out there with anybody else. He refused to use anything that would not constitute "real" camping (this includes roasting sticks - yes, we had to make our own). He also gave me a "survivor" challenge which forced me to make a campfire with no fire starters - just a lighter and whatever I could find in the trees around out site. He was even able to start a fire using just a flint and no lighter - wtf!

We got there at around 8:00pm on Friday night and began to set up, but holy crap was it ever cold. We got a fire going and the tent and tarp up and then sat around the fire and cooked some smokies for dinner. That night it was around -7 and it started snowing. Luckily, we had a heater that we were able to set up in the tent but we also had to wear 10 layers of clothes just to stay warm.

Mud Lake
The next day, we went for a hike around Mud Lake. It started out absolutely beautiful until we decided to leave the trail and continue walking around the lake. BAD IDEA. We quickly found out why it was called "Mud Lake"... the water was knee deep (thigh-high on me) and it was all muddy like quicksand on the bottom. When we finally got back to the campsite we were soaked and filthy, and my Uggs were ruined. :(

Fish Lake
Afterwards we went down to Fish Lake to see if J would have any luck catching anything - no dice. He fished for a few hours while I sat on the dock and read my book. We went back and had a five star dinner - steak and potatoes with cheese toast and some beers.

Crescent Falls
On Sunday we went to Crescent Falls, which was absolutely beautiful. We hiked down to the bottom of the canyon, to the base of the first waterfall, and took some pictures. On the side of the river were two Inukshuks made from the rocks. Then we went to Goldeye Lake to test Justin's luck at fishing one last time, and he actually caught quite a few little fish. We spent the evening having beers (and in my case an entire bottle of wine) with the couple who was camping across from us.

We were sad to leave on Monday afternoon but knew that we would definitely go back there again, and I look forward to all the camping we'll get to experience in the future.

wtf

J:

 Missing you.

Richard Dawkins Quoted:

"A Gallup poll taken in 1999 asked Americans whether they would vote for an otherwise well-qualified person who was a woman (95 per cent would), Roman Catholic (94 per cent would), Jew (92 per cent), black (92 per cent), Mormon (79 per cent), homosexual (79 per cent), or atheist (49 per cent)."

Our Kind of Love

I love the way that you were up for anything
Never worried 'bout what people say
That's right, oh that's right
What we got is

Just like driving on an open highway

Never knowing what we're gonna find
Just like two kids, baby, always trying to live it up
Whoa, yeah, that's our kind of love
Mmmmm that's our kind of love
I figured you were different than this.
I figured you were different than this.
I figured you were different than this.
I figured you were different than this.
I figured you were different than this.
I figured you were different than this.
I  f i g u r e d  y o u  w e r e  d i f f e r e n t  t h a n  t h i s .
I figured you were different than this.

That moment when someone realizes that you aren't as good as they thought you were.
Cannot wait to to go CAMPING this weekend!!!

Man Candy of the Day: Chris Hemsworth

Okay fine Chris (can I call you Chris?), you may take off your shirt.
I mean c'mon... look at his arms!
Definitely made the extra $3 I paid for 3D worth it when I saw The Avengers.

I forgot to mention...

I've officially GRADUATED from university and am now a qualified teacher.

Hide yo' kids.

Changes.

In nine days my life is going to change.

In nine days I am starting a new chapter of my life.

In nine days I am finishing my degree and will be a certified secondary education teacher in Alberta.

In nine days I will be packing up a moving van to move home after two years living on my own.

In nine days I am going to be beginning a long-distance relationship with my boyfriend.

So many different emotions all at once that I don't even know how to feel about everything. It's slightly overwhelming but all I feel is numbness. A nervousness.
An uneasiness.

Life is a fickle thing.

Life is Beautiful

My life is absolutely perfect right now. I have no idea how I've managed to be so lucky.
I'm issuing a warning at how corny this post is going to be, so bear with me.

To me, love is something that is so difficult to describe. For some people it is merely a word, but once you've felt it, experienced it, held it, you just know what it is and know that there is no better feeling in the world. When you have it, don't give up on it, and don't let go.

The family:
I have the most supportive family that anyone could hope for. Not only have they supported me financially to get through school, but in all other possible ways as well (intellectually, emotionally, psychologically... you get the idea). I would not have been able any of the things I have accomplished without them. I was so fortunate to have my brother and M move up to Edmonton so that I could have some family close by. I can't wait to move back to Calgary in a month to be closer to my mum, dad and the little bro. Nor can I wait to travel to B.C. this summer to visit the rest of my family that moved away last year. I am also so happy for them in all of their accomplishments as well: for my mum who took time to find happiness through traveling, for my little bro to be doing so well in school, for my older bro and his new job that he started last week, for my dad in taking part in all of the things that he loves to do. I love all of you so, so much.

The boyfriend:
J, you are incredible. Although we haven't been together for that long, I can't imagine what my life would be like without you in it. The best part of my day is waking up and having you scoop me up into your arms and hold me tight every single morning. Even on days when you get up earlier than me, I look forward to you coming upstairs and bringing me a hot cup of tea and putting my towels in the dryer so that they'll be nice and warm when I get out of the shower. I look forward to the random texts I get when you have a prep to tell me that you can't wait to see me when you get home. I love when you walk through my door after a long stressful day. I love the little things you do for me. All of them. And I appreciate every single one. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us.

The friends:
I can't say this enough, I have the best friends I could ever ask for. I can always count on you and know that you'll be here for me through thick and thin. I am also so blessed to have so many different groups of friends and to know so many people from all sorts of places. And the best part of the past couple years was reuniting with the girls who I spent most of my teenaged years with and becoming closer to them than ever. This is another reason why I look forward to being home.

The School/Job:
I love what I do. I can't believe that in ONE MONTH I will be completely done my practicum. It has been a crazy four years and I cannot wait to be finished. Although I am nervous for the future, I look forward to doing what I love to do: teaching. Despite the hours of lesson planning every night, and some kids that drive me up the wall, when I walk through the doors of the school every morning I know that I'm where I'm supposed to be.
