Worst Blogger Ever = Me

Sorry I've been so MIA lately.

My life consists entirely of lesson planning and teaching.
Good-bye life, it was nice knowing you.

Rest In Peace Maverick

Mavy,
I'll miss you ramming into my bedroom door every morning to wake me up.
You were the sweetest cat we could've asked for.
Going home won't be the same.

No Party Would be Complete Without One

Yesterday I wrote my last final exam ever. It marked the end of my coursework for my undergraduate degree. So of course, the university thing to do is go out drinking to celebrate; in this case to a kegger hosted by another ED student.

I have come to the conclusion that every university party has a slutty drunk girl there. In fact, I am confident in concluding that no party would be complete without one.

The slutty drunk girl at our kegger stumbled in around 8pm, already fairly drunk. She was wearing jeans and a shirt that was way too small for her - the bottom just barely covered her bellybutton. Typically, I wouldn't care what someone was wearing but this shirt was not flattering on this poor girl at all. She had very prominent love handles. Like, huge ones. She said hi to a guy I was talking to, I asked what her name was, and he had no idea who she was, so we dubbed her "Muffintop".

When J saw her, he recognized her instantly from school (although I've never seen her in my life). To describe her, you must hear how he put it: "Its all in her eyes. She has those eyes that if you are unfortunate enough to make eye contact with her, you feel like you need to go scrub yourself with bleach in the shower for a while."

There is always at least one.
Muffintop strolled into the kitchen a little while later when I was talking with J and two other guys ("SuperDave" and "LiqourRep"). She walks up to the two other guys and they both just reach down her shirt and grab her bare boobs. Instead of slapping them she just stood there giggling like a little school girl.

J and I must have had pretty stunned expressions on our faces because LiqourRep said "oh its cool, she loves it" and after she nodded, he began to motorboat her chest right before taking a boob all the way out and sucking on her nipple. RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE KITCHEN! Once again Muffintop just sat there smiling, loving every second of it.

J and I remained even more stunned (if possible), which LiquorRep must have noticed because he said: "Oh don't worry. She's my sister."

Umm WTF?

Not gonna lie, we left shortly after this.

But let me tell ya, there is nothing like some incest to end off the night.

Winnie the Pooh & Mental Illness

Welcome to Nerdsville (aka University Social Studies)

Oh look, he's even wearing plaid.
He would fit right in on Western Day
Apparently my class has "theme days'.

Monday was beach day.
Yesterday was western day.
Today is formal day. A girl sitting across from me is actually wearing her high school grad dress.

FML.

I wish I didn't feel like this was so stupid.

The sad part is that others will think these people will be better teachers than me because they're "fun".
Dear God.

Don't get me wrong - I would totally do this stuff with my students, but not in my university classroom when I'm there to just get my degree.

Sorry but if I'm paying this much money to be here, I'm going to wear whatever the hell I want.
And no, this does not include my grad dress and high heels.
Thanks and all... but no thanks.

Why I Hate People in my Class

I don't have a lot in common with many of the other social studies majors, but I do have a couple friends in my department. However, only a couple of these friends are in my class. One of these friends just happens to have other friends in the class that I automatically have to socialize with because we sit near them. Typically I can put on my happy face and deal with it, but yesterday I decided that I really don't like them and have nothing in common with them.
Why not?

They're assholes. They are straight up fucking assholes. At first I thought that I was just being a bitch, but now its obvious that my "colleagues" are fake, pretentious and prudish, among many other things. Yesterday proved this to me more than ever.

I wonder where my classmates keep their "Burn Book"?
They make fun of people CONSTANTLY. I went out for drinks with them today and from the minute we left the classroom until I left the bar (I don't know how I lasted nearly an hour there), they made fun of people in our class, mainly two people who have disabilities. Now, I'm not going to pretend that I don't joke around on occasion and poke fun at people, but there is definitely a line, and they crossed it a million times over.

One of the targets of their ridicule is a man who I am 95% sure has Aspergers, we'll call him "Joe". Its not like he has come out and said it, but it would be my best guess. Not only did they make fun of the way he looks, speaks and acts in class, but they sent around captioned pictures via text message during class about him, and made sexually-explicit jokes about him for over an hour.

What surprised me the most is that my friend and I said that we genuinely liked "Joe" and that we didn't have a problem with him at all and they laughed in our faces and kept poking fun at him. I said he was a very nice guy and was very cute in his mannerisms. We said these things so that they would shut up and talk about something else, but apparently ignorance = idiocy too.

The other person they made fun of was a lady in our class who was bullied so badly that she was physically assaulted several times resulting in permanent injury to her arm. They made fun of her because of this. Are you fucking kidding me? This is a woman who was ridiculed her entire life by cruel kids, and finally when she thinks she's safe as an adult, she has other adults acting like children and making fun of her still. What the hell is this world coming to?

How fucked up is it that these are future educators?!

Okay, MAYBE these colleagues of mine are unaware of why "Joe" and "Anna" are the way they are, and maybe "Joe" doesn't even have Aspergers, but it shouldn't matter. No one deserves to get treated like that.

I genuinely hope that none of these assholes end up teaching any of my future kids.

Wow

What an incredible ad.

Stephen Roberts Quoted:

“I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”

Bob Marley Quoted:

“He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect for more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you.”

Kristen Bell's Sloth Meltdown on Ellen

This is incredible.
If you get a chance to watch the full interview, I definitely recommend it.
Too funny and she's too cute.
